Halo has been a shooter phenomenon in recent years, and it’s one of the few games that has gained multiple accolades and achieved various milestones. Recently, Xbox Game Studios revealed that since releasing Halo: The Master Chief Collection in 2019, the game has surpassed 10 million users playing on Steam and Windows.
In an interview with PCGamesN, Shannon Loftis, studio head of World’s Edge, mentioned how most players currently within the game are new to the series, marking that they have found an entirely new market of Halo fans. “Most of those people are new to the franchise. And so, we discovered a whole new cache of Halo fans that we wouldn’t otherwise have gotten to reach if we hadn’t released on Steam, and on Windows, and on Game Pass.”
Halo: The Master Chief Collection continues to update with Season 6 being rolled out this month.
In the long run, Loftis and the team at Xbox tell PCGamesN that they see further expansion into game development for the PC “by adding brilliant studios that focus on PC forward gaming.”
